Penampilan Manchester United di markas Sevilla mendapat kritik. The Red Devils disebut tampil steril walaupun punya potensi ofensif yang luar biasa. Kritik dilontarkan oleh Ian Wright, mantan pesepakbola yang kini rutin jadi analis dan komentator.
MU pulang dari markas Sevilla dengan membawa hasil seri tanpa gol, 0-0, dalam partai leg pertama babak 16 besar Liga Champions, Kamis (22/2/2018) dini hari WIB.
Itu merupakan clean sheet kesembilan MU dalam 11 laga terakhirnya di seluruh kompetisi dan yang ke-23 dari seluruh ajang musim ini, tiga lebih banyak dibandingkan tim Premier League lain.
Hasil seri itu tidak lepas dari penampilan impresif David De Gea di bawah mistar gawang MU, yang banyak mendapatkan tekanan sepanjang pertandingan.
Dari statistik UEFA.com, Sevilla unggul penguasaan bola 54%-46% atas MU. Tuan rumah Sevilla juga melepas 25 tembakan yang delapan di antaranya ke sasaran. Sementara tim tamu MU juga membuat satu tembakan on target dari empat tembakan.
Menurut Wright, penampilan dan hasil semacam itu tidak layak untuk tim seperti MU. Salah satunya karena keberadaan sejumlah pemain yang secara kualitas mampu meneror pertahanan lawan.
“Jose (Mourinho) pernah bicara soal pakar di sepakbola,” kata Wright kepada BBC yang dikutip Sportsmole.
“Jika Anda melihat pemain yang dimiliki (MU). (Marcus) Rashford, (Anthony) Martial, (Alexis) Sanchez, (Romelu) Lukaku yang ditunjang (Paul) Pogba, apa itu tidak bikin ngeri? United harusnya tampil lebih baik dengan pemain yang dimiliki. Saya tertegun dengan sepakbola steril. Jika saya adalah penggemar United, saya akan merasa sebal sekali,” tuturnya.
