Gol ke gawang Villarreal merupakan yang ke-32 dicetak Messi di pentas La Liga musim ini. Dilansir Opta, rupanya hal tersebut membuatnya kini telah mencetak total 415 gol di liga. Angka ini melewati raihan 414 gol yang didapat Ronaldo.
Angka ini tentu masih bisa berubah karena Messi dan Ronaldo masih aktif bermain, setidaknya dalam beberapa musim ke depan. Kedua pemain diprediksi akan terus saling kejar-menhejar dalam urusan membobol gawang lawan.
Tak hanya itu, Messi juga menjadi pemain pertama yang mampu mencetak sedikitnya enam gol tendangan bebas langsung dalam semusim sejak 2006/07 silam.
