Giroud memang masih belum mendapat kepercayaan sebagai starter di liga. Ia baru 2 kali menjadi starter di Premier League. Pada laga melawan Southampton pun ia hanya tampil 29 menit sebagai pengganti.
Giroud lega akhirnya bisa bikin gol untuk Chelsea di Premier League. Striker asal Prancis itu mengaku sudah gatal ingin mencetak gol.
“Jelas momen seperti ini yang saya tunggu-tunggu. Saya mencoba beberapa kali untuk mencetak gol dan kadang tidak ada keberuntungan, kadang saya kurang efisien,” ujarnya kepada Sky Sports dilansir Soccerway.
“Sebagai striker Anda harus terus mencoba, mempertahankan kepercayaan diri agar tetap tinggi, sekalipun saya bermain sangat sedikit beberapa pekan terakhir.”
“Saya benar-benar ingin tim bangkit di babak kedua dan jelas awal laga benar-benar tak diduga. Tapi, dalam sepakbola selalu ada kesempatan untuk bangkit. Kami memperlihatkan karakter dan semangat juang,” sambung dia.
