Indonesia optimistis punya posisi tawar untuk mempertahankan nomor kelas 62 kilogram putra pada cabang angkat besi Asian Games 2018 menyusul rencana Federasi Angkat Besi Asia (AWF) untuk menghapus nomor itu.
“Hal yang pasti dan penting adalah Wakil Presiden mengatakan kita punya posisi tawar yang kuat sebagai tuan rumah. Kedua, semua nomor pertandingan Asian Games sudah diputuskan sehingga tidak ada alasan untuk diubah-ubah,” kata Wakil Ketua Umum Pengurus Besar Persatuan Angkat Berat, Binaraga, dan Angkat Besi Seluruh Indonesia (PB PABBSI) Djoko Pramono selepas mengikuti Rapat Prestasi Asian Games bersama Wakil Presiden Jusuf Kalla di Komplek Perguruan Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian (PTIK) Jakarta, Kamis.
Djoko mengaku belum ada informasi balasan dari Dewan Olimpiade Asia (OCA) ataupun AWF terkait permintaan Indonesia agar tetap mempertahankan nomor kelas 62 kilogram putra dalam Asian Games ke-18 di Jakarta dan Palembang.
“Posisi kita kuat kalau kita bilang tidak ya tidak. Saya gambarkan bahwa olahraga itu ada politisasinya karena ada negara-negara tertentu yang punya kepentingan,” kata Djoko.
Namun, Djoko meyakini Indonesia dapat mempertahankan kelas 62 kilogram menyusul optimisme dari Wakil Presiden yang juga menjabat sebagai Ketua Dewan Pengarah Asian Games 2018.
Sementara, Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga Imam Nahrawi mengatakan telah mengirim surat kepada Presiden OCA terkait usulan pembatalan penghapusan nomor kelas 62 kilogram putra pada cabang angkat besi.
“Saya yakin AWF dan OCA akan kembali pada kesepakatan rapat terakhir koordinasi komite Asian Games pada Januari,” kata Menpora.

Wakil Presiden, menurut Menpora, meminta para atlet-atlet pemusatan pelatihan nasional untuk mecapai puncak penampilan mereka pada Agustus dalam Asian Games.
“Semua pemangku kepentingan akan terus memantau secara detail. Mereka dibantu tim pendukung seperti ahli gizi dan nutrisi, fisioterapis, maupun psikolog,” ujar Menpora.
Menpora menambahkan para atlet tidak punya pilihan selain mengibarkan bedera Merah-Putih dalam Asian Games. “Komitmen itu harus dijaga antara lain dengan dukungan para suporter,” kata Menpora.
